“New” Song of the Day: Bon Iver “Skinny Love”

Bon Iver is the name of American indie folk singer-songwriter Justin Vernon’s current band and most notable music project to date. The band now also consists of Michael Noyce, Sean Carey, and Matthew McCaughan. The name, Bon Iver, is a corruption of the French “bon hiver” (good winter). Vernon independently released Bon Iver’s debut album, “For Emma, Forever Ago” in July 2007, the majority of which was recorded while spending three months in a remote cabin in Northwestern Wisconsin.

“New” Song of the Day: Halcyon Days

Siobhan Donaghy - from her Ghosts albums.

While the track and album didn’t get the recognition it deserved.

Siobhán Emma Donaghy, is an English singer and songwriter. She attended the Douay Martyrs school in Ickenham, in the London Bourogh of Hillingdon. She was a founding member of English pop group the Sugababes, although she was replaced by Heidi Range in September 2001. Since her departure from the group, Donaghy has released five solo singles, two albums, and has appeared in a remixed version of the hit stage show Rent for its 2007-2008 run where she played Mimi.

Why we like her? Breaking away from the pop regime she has written, yes WRITTEN or co-written every song on her last two albums.  Her melodic tones and lyrics provide an amazing listening experience.

New Music of the Day: “Sleepy Head” - Passion Pit.

Great song.

Passion Pit is an American electronic band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Formed in 2007, the group consists of Michael Angelakos (lead vocals/keyboards), Ian Hultquist (keyboards/guitar), Ayad Al Adhamy (synth/samples), Jeff Apruzzese (bass) and Nate Donmoyer (drums).
